FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about buying and selling on MicroM&A.
General
What is MicroM&A?
MicroM&A is a marketplace for buying and selling small businesses. We connect motivated sellers with qualified buyers — without brokers, large commissions, or opaque processes.
What counts as a small business on this platform?
Any independently owned, operating business with annual revenue typically under $10 million. This includes service businesses, e-commerce stores, restaurants, professional practices, SaaS products, franchises, and more. The business's value must come primarily from its operations — not from real estate holdings.
Is MicroM&A free to use?
Browsing listings and creating a profile is completely free. Listing a business for sale is also free — there are no posting fees or subscription plans. MicroM&A charges a 2% platform facilitation fee on completed transactions only. You pay nothing until a deal closes.
For Buyers
Who should be buying on MicroM&A?
MicroM&A is built for first-time acquisition entrepreneurs, operators looking to grow through acquisition, investors seeking cash-flowing businesses, and anyone transitioning out of corporate employment into business ownership.
How do I know a listing is legitimate?
Sellers can upload financial documents (P&Ls, tax returns, bank statements) to earn a Verified Financials badge. You can also request more information directly from sellers through our messaging system. We encourage buyers to conduct independent due diligence before signing any agreement.
How do I contact a seller?
Once you are logged in and have a buyer profile, you can message a seller directly from any listing page. We keep communications on-platform to maintain a clear record for both parties.
What is an LOI?
A Letter of Intent (LOI) is a non-binding document that outlines the proposed terms of an acquisition — including price, structure, and key conditions. MicroM&A provides an LOI generator tool once a conversation with the seller is underway.
For Sellers
Who should be listing on MicroM&A?
MicroM&A is for founders and owners who are ready to exit, retiring operators seeking a qualified successor, and anyone who wants to sell a business without paying a broker 10–12% commission.
How do I list my business?
Click 'List a Business' in the top navigation. You'll be guided through entering your business details, financials, and optional supporting documents. Your listing goes live once approved.
Can I list anonymously?
Yes. You can enable anonymous mode when creating your listing. The business name and identifying details will be hidden from public view until you choose to reveal them to a specific buyer.
How do I get a Verified Financials badge?
Upload your financial documents (such as tax returns, P&L statements, or bank statements) through your profile's verification section. Once reviewed, your listings will display the Verified Financials badge.
Real Estate & Legal
Can I sell a property or real estate through MicroM&A?
No. MicroM&A does not facilitate the transfer of real estate. Listings must represent operating businesses whose value is derived from revenue, customers, and operations — not from land or buildings. Any listing that is primarily a real estate transaction will be removed. If your business owns real estate as part of its operations, you may reference it as an asset, but the real estate itself cannot be transferred through this platform.
Are NDAs available?
Yes. MicroM&A provides an NDA generator so both parties can protect confidential information before detailed financials are shared. NDAs are stored on-platform and accessible to both parties.
Is MicroM&A a licensed broker?
No. MicroM&A is a technology platform that facilitates connections between buyers and sellers. We are not a licensed business broker, financial advisor, or legal advisor. We strongly encourage all users to engage qualified legal and financial professionals before completing any transaction.
Who is responsible for the accuracy of listings?
Sellers are solely responsible for the accuracy and completeness of their listings. MicroM&A does not independently verify all claims made in listings. Buyers should conduct their own due diligence.
Platform & Safety
How does MicroM&A protect my data?
We use industry-standard encryption and access controls. Financial documents are stored in secure, private storage buckets. Only authorised users can access sensitive documents. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
What happens if a listing violates the rules?
Listings are subject to admin review. Listings that violate our Acceptable Use Policy — including fraudulent listings, real estate transfers, or prohibited content — will be removed and the account may be suspended.
How do I report a suspicious listing?
Use the flag or report button on the listing page, or contact us directly. Our admin team reviews all reports.
